Sometimes You Find Love in the Most Unlikely Places

Every girl remembers her first love and every photographer remembers her first wedding...

It was mild winter in January 2008 and the Giants were on their way to the superbowl.  I was on a European vacation with my brother and sister and in en route to France when I got an email from Shama asking if I would photograph her wedding.   Initially I didn't know if I wanted to be a "wedding photographer."  I mean I had seen the uncle-like men who were photographers at the Pakistani/Indian weddings I had attended.  They would putz around with frowns on their faces, a still camera in one hand, and a video camera in the other.   At one wedding, I remember clicking away using my Canon Elph while the father of the bride gave a moving speech.  When I looked over at the main photographer he was downing samosas and a can of Pepsi.  Even though I shuddered at the thought of being a wedding photographer...I decided to bite the bullet and take the gig.

It all happened so suddenly.  I didn't think it could happen!  I mean at a wedding?   It wasn't supposed to be like this!  After the three day event...I was in love.  I loved the idea of being able to do something I love for a living.  I loved the idea of being a part of peoples most important moments.  I knew I LIKED photography but this time...I fell in LOVE.  I know it's a little corny and dramatic but hey...that's me!

I just want to thank Shama and Sabir for trusting me with their wedding photography.  I was new and inexperienced but they still took a chance on me!

Here are some of my favorite images from Shama and Sabir's Wedding.
